All right. Here's a good one from the boards.
Leaving all the Charter politics aside, I hold them to a higher standard, because hey... We pay for this shit, and we stuck with it for a while! I expect something like this on the AC. Or in neopian_adults
, even. But not on Charter.
So, in the editorial
, TNT says that hell and damn are not allowed on the boards (who knew?). Religious/political usernames are not allowed. Neither is anything with the word "sexy." (Pet names are left out of the discussion.) However, names that have been created and established (ie, not religious/political usernames that are rotting, and suddenly become active because, "Hey! It's 62 months old!") are going to be "grandfathered in." Meaning... "Hey, look. We screwed up, and let you create this. We let you get away with it for a long time, and now you've got something you worked hard for, so we aren't going to snatch it away from you." Pretty noble, and very unlike TNT, in my opinion. But great. :) People like wiccan_wolf (who got published in last week's editorial on this very topic) will be safe. People who decide to create accounts with names like "hellzsexyangel" will obviously be frozen.
The short of it is this: If you have an account that has a religious meaning to it, you're fine (come on -- you're on Charter. It's clear that you're serious about your account AND it's likely somewhat established, two of the things TNT mentioned in the editorial). If you decide, NOW, to create one... Not so fine.
TNT has left pet names out of it, but I would imagine that the grandfather clause extends to those pets, since these were not clear and established rules when the pets were created. Purge the ones on rotting accounts and in the pound that violate these names, but otherwise, let them be.
Charter has. A. Fit.( Screenies below cutCollapse )
So there you have it, folks. When Charter brings the drama, they really bring it. And the stupid that goes with it.
Enjoy!MOD NOTE: I'm sure you're all aware, but harrassing these individuals, for any reason, is not allowed. Point and laugh here, but keep it here.
